How is a tire made?

Picture
A fundamental part of the vehicle is perhaps one of the most unknown. For some, it may even be one of the least striking, in contrast to the engine or the latest technological accessories. However, without it, there is no vehicle that can be considered as such. In addition, it constitutes a decisive element for road safety. It is, of course, the tire.

The manufacturing process of a tire is much more complex than initially imagined.
It is not possible to do it in an hour, at home and with a simple instruction manual or a tutorial of those that abound on social networks. In this article we explain the four fundamental steps:

  • Its creation process requires high technology by manufacturers for its development. The main element is rubber. The mixture of more than 30 different types causes a rubbery compound that, cut into strips, forms the structure of the tire.
  • Subsequently, the tire shell is assembled from the inside out. Tarpaulins made from synthetic fibers together with interwoven steel cables between the canvases, heels and heel rings give rise to the shell itself.
  • The structure of the tire together with the carcass make up what is commonly known in the sector as "green tire". This green tire goes through a process called vulcanization, in which hot molds compress the materials and shape the tread, whose objective is to favor roadside grip. In this way we achieve the definitive structure of the tire.
  • The last step, as important as the rest, are the inspection tests whose objective will be to evaluate the resistance, the grip and the noise of the tire - the elements that the European Label reflects - to be able to circulate normally along the road. A walker that simulates driving, microphones of great sensitivity, computers that process information, tests that cause a very high speed of the tire and the coordinated work by the technicians will complete this process. Only once these different tests are passed is when we will finish and we can say that a completely safe tire has been manufactured.

It is more than likely that from now on, whenever we look at the Tire Dealer Sites, we will be more aware of the enormous work of people and machines both for the design and innovation and for the production behind it. Large companies are dedicated body and soul throughout the world to its manufacture seeking continuous improvement to offer more advanced and safe products.

The professionalism in its conception and production is what guarantees us that our entire vehicle can work and that everything goes “on wheels”. Making good use of this "machine" will then depend solely on the good driver.
